Although the sunset is incredible wherever you are, we’ve put together a selection of some of the best spots to watch the Mallorcan sunsets to make it that little bit more special. Lots of these locations have restaurants and make for the perfect place to accompany this incredible moment with an exquisite glass of wine.

FORMENTOR LIGHHOUSE
The farthest point of Mallorca, located just 10km from the Port de Pollença, is one of the most charming spots to enjoy this special moment. Its white lighthouse and the panoramic views of Menorca (on a clear day) are the perfect addition to help you capture the moment in a photo.
It has become one of the symbols of the island, despite not being easy to access. To enjoy this stunning natural spectacle, you have to drive along a winding road for 20km, and then walk along a trail. The good news? It’s most definitely worth the effort.
You can stay at Finca Son Catxo, a 45-minute drive from this magical sunset, in Búger, the smallest municipality on the island. It’s a natural paradise and the perfect spot for exploring the most authentic side to Mallorca.
ES TRENC BEACH
The guides say it’s a sin to leave the island without having watched the sunset on Es Trenc. I mean, that’s no surprise! The crystal-clear waters in the Es Trenc natural park, its never-ending dunes and the lush green that surrounds the area add a touch of magic. It’s a treat for your senses.
It’s also the perfect spot for all kinds of travellers. You can choose whether you watch the sunset from its more unspoilt area (nudist) or whilst sipping a cocktail in its charming beach bar
SANT ELM
Sant Elm is a small, working fishing harbour. It’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in the island’s traditions and very popular for enjoying water sports.
It’s located in front of the famous Sa Dragonera natural park, and you can get there by boat if you fancy exploring. A wide variety of birds and its infamous lizards wander freely around the area. If you’re up for the adventure you can join one of the diving trips to Dragonera to admire its wonderful seabed.
After enjoying a different sort of day packed with a wide range of activities, watch the sunset with views over to the islet. The best area for this is from a trail that follows the coast to Punta Blanca. The only thing left to do is to enjoy the sunset behind la Dragonera. It offers some stunning panoramic views.
PUIG DE SANT SALVADOR
At the peak of the Puig de Sant Salvador mountain hides the Santuari de Sant Salvador, which dates back to the 14th century. You can visit its church, chapel and a monument dedicated to Cristo Rey. But there’s more! It’s home to a different sunset, away from the hordes of tourists, especially in summer. The views are outstanding.
It’s quite popular among hikers and cyclists, as you need to leave the car at the foot of the mountain and follow an easy path up to the highest point.
TALAIA D’ALBERCUTX
The Talaia d’Albercutx is an old defence tower that was built at the end of the 16th century and located 380 metres up. It’s not the typical sunset, as this is a strategic location surrounded by mountains and with contrasting colours unique to the island.
We’d definitely recommend you stop at the Es Colomer viewpoint. The views are spectacular.
TORRE DE SES ÁNIMES
The Torre de Ses Ánimes is located between Banyalbufar and Estellencs, with a rich history of legends and magic, as there have been some mysterious disappearances in this area. Many inhabitants swear that the souls sew invisible nets at night, to trap the adventurers who wander into the area.
Despite this legend, climbing the steep steps up to the top of the tower is one of the must-do activities. From here you can watch the very special sunset and take in the gorgeous views of the coast from above.
SA CALOBRA
Sa Calobra is located right in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana. This paradise is tucked away and formed by two stunning beaches. The smaller of the two shares a name with the area and the bigger one is called Torrent de Pareis.
They’ve become one of the best beaches in Mallorca, thanks to their location perched on sheer, rocky cliffs. These are some of the most and unique beaches the island has to offer.
They’re not easy to get to as you have to follow a windy road known as nus de sa corbata (Tie Knot), as the road goes back under itself. It has a 360º curve and 12, 180º curves.
Enjoy this paradisiac spot that has remained intact and unspoilt, making it very easy to relax. Its magical landscape has served as inspiration for many artists for generations, especially at sunset. The sky and the sea merge into one another, offering a colourful spectacle.
SA FORADADA VIEWPOINT
A classic! Deemed the most emblematic spot to enjoy Mallorca’s sunsets, both in winter and in summer. As its name suggests, it’s a needle-shaped rock that bursts its way out of the water. A natural spectacle!
The secret trick is to follow a small path close to the coast. It’s the best spot to enjoy the surroundings. Although you’ll see the majority of the visitors at the viewpoints or on the bar terrace, the most impressive views are a few metres further along. Don’t forget to arrive early to avoid parking issues!
It’s located in the Serra de Tramontana, between Valldemossa and Deià, where the sea and the mountains teeming with vegetation are joined thanks to its stunning cliffs. This is one of the top things to do during two days in Mallorca.
CAP GROS LIGHTHOUSE
At 22 metres tall, Far de Cap Gros is a lighthouse that has lit the way for sailors since 1859. It’s easy to get to this impressive white lighthouse from the Puerto de Sóller along el Camino del Faro. It offers stunning panoramic views of the harbour and is the perfect spot to watch the sunset. You can also discover more about how the lighthouse keeps used to live years ago.
COSTA DE LA CALMA
The sunsets as seen from Costa de La Calma are some of the most exciting. If you’re staying in the capital, this is definitely the best spot. The luxury rooms at Samaritana Suites are an excellent option, located right in the heart of the historic centre of Palma and with excellent connections to the most emblematic places on the island.
The best area to enjoy sundown is Playa de Cala Blanca, a small cove nestled into a rocky landscape. You’ll often find surfers here, as there are some fantastic waves to catch. You can choose to sit at one of the many beach bars with sea views if surfing isn’t your thing.
ES MALGRATS VIEWPOINT
The Santa Ponça area offers sunsets with views over the island of Malgrats and the islet of El Toro, both of which are protected Marine Reserves. It’s easy to get to, as there’s parking nearby.
The area surrounding the islets is home to numerous colonies of sea birds. Enjoy watching them fly while observing the sunset. It’s truly magical!.
PORT DE SÓLLER
300m from Port de Sóller is Cala Delta, with more than 200m of coves. The swimming areas are rocky, apart from the last one. The glistening, turquoise waters are unbelievable.
This is one of the best places to watch the sun disappear into the sea. You can watch from the port area or head into the wilder areas to enjoy this special, last moment of daylight in total peace and calm.
PORTOCOLOM NATURAL ARCH
If you want to experience a unique sunset away from the crowds, the natural arch at the Portocolom lighthouse is the perfect place. Lots of tourists visit the fishing village, as it’s considered one of Mallorca’s prettiest towns, but not many people know about this special location.
The lighthouse is quite popular and is located in Raconàs. It stands at 25m tall and is painted with white and sky-blue stripes. This is a must-see spot, but you’ll get the best panoramic views from the cave, opposite the lighthouse on the cliff.
It’s easy access, simple to find and there’s parking nearby. The sunset here is incredible; burnt orange merges with the blue sea, against the contrast of the cliff and the lighthouse.
