Starting at the hotel, walk along Carrer de Posada Santa to the left until you reach Carrer de la Samaritana. Turn left to find Can Dameto de la Quartera, a Gothic-style mansion owned by the Vallespir de Inca family. Built in the Middle Ages, the house is a landmark of Palma. Stop to take a selfie in front of it.Look across the street at the Teatre Sans, a theatre in the Gothic style that runs new, experimental theatre plays. There is also a bar where you can have a cup of coffee, and a drama school. Check out the plays that are on while you are in Palma for a special night out at the theatre.After a brief stop, head for CaixaForum Palma. Take Carrer de la Samaritana and make a left up to Carrer Forn de la Creu. Turn left again at Carrer de la Corderia toward Carrer de la Galera, where there is Plaça d’en Coll, a nice square lined with coffee shops and restaurants where you can sit down if you are feeling a bit peckish.
After the break, go in the direction of Carrer de Colom, a busy street lined with shops. Turn right to find Plaça del Marqués del Palmer. Close by are tourist attractions such as the Town Hall, the Church of Santa Eulalia or El Águila building, whose ground floor shares its iron structure with Can Rey. Both buildings date back to the early twentieth century and are a good example of the Catalan Modernist style: richly decorated facades and polychrome ceramic tiles from the Mallorca-based factory La Roqueta.
Now take Carrer del Forn del Racó to Costa del Teatre. Turn left to get to Plaça de Weyler, a very special square packed with restaurants and cafés. Snap some shots and continue your way to CaixaForum.
